ROLLING HOME THE BEAST'S LAST TRIP |
|
After a delayed departure from Costa Rica due to customs officers debating about whether to break into the container at Puerto Limon to inspect the Beast and see the VIN number that was at the front of the Beast with locked doors and no way of getting to the front, we set off for Rotterdam from the UK to pick the Beast up.
The same ferry that we sailed from Hull to Rotterdam on, three years ago |
Rotterdam port - the largest port in Europe |
A dropped conatiner (we think) snapped the ropes and the cables that were tying the Beast down, which then rolled back crushing the Maggiolina which was tied onto the floor and then rolled forwards and crashed forwards into the front of the container.
A beast shaped dent in the container end
One damaged Beast

We always manage to break down in the ugliest of places.... the stunning town of Vaalidingen in the Netherlands!
How to mend a Beast's knackerd transmission box, courtesy of the Dutch AA!
The Dutch AA - they love cable ties (and probably gaffer tape if you gave them a reel!)
Our yellow chariot that took us 3 hours over the border into Belgium and the only boat that wasn't booked, back to the UK at the peak of the half term holidays |
Limping home. We were dropped at Zeebrugge port by our yellow chariot and left to try and struggle onto the ship!
We love our Beast
